Tarot Astrology: Sun in Scorpio, Full Moon in Taurus

Tarot of the Vampyres  © Llewellyn 2010
It's full moon in Taurus tonight, and I dare to admit that I've nearly missed it!

Trying to combine half-term holidays and Halloween preparations with a busy workload is my lame excuse, but here we are, at that dark time of the year, when Scorpio's intense emotions and transformational powers are kept in check by down-to-earth Taurus.

Since it is Halloween in two days time, I have chosen the zodiac card images for today's post from Ian Daniels' Tarot of the Vampyres; Death (Scorpio) and the Hierophant (Taurus).

2012, the year of the Hierophant, is soon coming to an end, and according to the Mayan calendar a new era is beginning on the 21 December. Scorpio is the sign of transformation, so it is an apt match with Death as its Tarot zodiac card.

Scorpio/Death as the current sun sign influence may encourage a strong urge within ourselves to follow our primal needs and emotions, which can indeed bring about long-lasting changes and an unsettling time ahead coming to terms with the new order we are creating.

Tonight, the energy of the Taurus full moon, the Hierophant, will help us determine, if we want to go all the way into an unknown, risky, adventurous direction or stay as we are, in a secure but unexciting comfort zone.

But the Taurus/Hierophant energy is not entirely a killjoy; it may prevent you from making choices that are completely mad, bonkers and regrettable in a few months time.

Whatever direction the Death/Hierophant energies are taking you over the forthcoming 24 - 36 hours, they will most likely be for the best.

Warmest wishes,

Christiane

2012 - The Year Of The Hierophant

The Hierophant, www.aquatictarot.de

2012 is well on its way, and its climax will now doubt be the conclusion of the current Mayan calendar cycle on the Winter Solstice in December.

People worldwide are eagerly anticipating this cosmic event in hope for a positive conscious shift on our planet.

Major changes on a global scale have already profoundly changed our lives over the last three years (e.g. the banking crisis, recession, major natural disasters like the Japanese earthquake), and we may be wondering now what else we can expect for the remaining months this year.

The numerical year card for us all (based on the calendar year 2012) is trump no. 5, The Hierophant.

Year cards can give us an indication as to what we need to pay attention to in that particular year as well as what opportunities and challenges we may be facing.

The general key words for the Hierophant are: religion, structures and organisations, institutions, rules, ethics, morality, establishment, tradition, education, hierarchy, conformity.

Darker meanings of this card: control, rigid regulations and belief systems that don't allow creativity or individuality, religious fanatism and oppression, lack of spirituality.

The Hierophant is associated with the zodiac sign Taurus and the element Earth.

The image shows a papal figure seated on a throne with his feet on the ground and his hands raised into the air, suggesting that the Hierophant is grounded in structure and tradition, yet spiritually connected to the Higher Force above.

On a global level, the Hierophant may ask us to turn our backs on excessive materialism, develop a more sustainable lifestyle and thus rediscovering our spirituality.

What is the Hierophant asking you as an individual to focus on this year?

You may
  • wish to learn a new skill, start a course at college or university or work on passing important exams
  • become a teacher or would like to pass on your knowledge and skills in a more informal setting
  • have an issue with security and stability in your life; you either need to create it or break out to explore pastures new
  • pay more attention to your spiritual needs; for too long people have focused on their physical (material) and intellectual (scientific) needs, but the human being consists of body, mind and spirit, which all need to be equally nurtured.
  • question the status quo, e.g. in your workplace, in society or in your relationships with others. Lack of change and innovation can lead to a stale environment and situation, where creativity is suppressed and your potential stifled. Think carefully what outdated structures, rules and moral obligations are holding you back.
  • equally feel the urge to introduce more traditional customs into your life; are you thinking about getting married and "settle down"? Or perhaps you would like to get involved more formally in political or social organisations and activities, where you can contribute positively to society.
  • Consider the wisdom found in all religions and focus on the one closest to your heart; observe its festivals and traditions, simplify your life; live according to the core values of religion and spirituality: love, compassion, tolerance, sharing, helping and caring.
Take a moment to study the card and explore your individual opportunities and challenges for this year.

Tarot 2012 - Are you Ready for the Transformation?

I don't know about you, but over the past few months I've been noticing subtle changes within myself, and I have a strong sense that these changes will lead to profound and transformational growth in the coming year.

For example, I have become more confident about my abilities; I can deal with criticism and ignorance in a more tolerant way; I'm more self-reliant.

I have the urge to share my knowledge, wisdom and spirituality with you and many others, in order to help lots of people to turn their own dreams into reality and fulfil their potential.

I have never EVER written so much like I have done recently on this blog! Whatever is going on inside me, I love it 😄

Perhaps it's all down to that Mayan 2012 prophecy. Last year I wrote a post on my old blog about it and its connection (how I see it) to the Tarot. I re-publish it here with some updates:

The 21st December 2012 is a significant date in the Mayan calendar; on this day the 13th baktun (cycle) is coming to an end after more than 5000 years.

The Mayans were excellent astrologers; their calendar is based on the solar system and the movements of the stars.

We know that there is an astrological reason, why the Mayans determined 21/12/2012 as the last day of the current cycle.

On that particular day, all planets in our solar system will align with the black hole situated at the centre of our galaxy, the milky way.

But don’t worry! It’s unlikely that we all get sucked into it, yet if you are familiar with astrological occurrences and how they can affect our lives on Earth, then you might wonder, what the 21st December 2012 will have in store for us.

The Mayans already knew about this date centuries ago, and so did Medieval alchemists and occult scholars in our Western civilisation. The most prominent one, Nostradamus, has also mentioned this date in his Lost Manuscript together with images of a wheel, sun, moon, and angels, which are all symbols found in the Tarot images.

Now that I’ve mentioned the Middle Ages, I can start to explore the connection between the date 21/12/2012 and the Tarot, which first appeared in Europe in the 15th century.

Does the Tarot tell us anything about what to expect on that special day?

From a numerology point of view, we can assign the following trump cards to this date:

21 – The World
12 – The Hanged Man
20 – Judgement
11 – Justice; you get this number when you add up the numbers of the date.

In addition, you can also include The Fool (no. 0), The Magician (no.1) and the High Priestess (no.2).

All these cards seem to make sense; there's a completion of a cycle (The World), a need for sacrifice (Hanged Man) after evaluation (Judgement) and adjustment (Justice).

Tarot cards 2012: 21 – The World 12 – The Hanged Man 20 – Judgement 11 – Justice; you get this number when you add up the numbers of the date

Perhaps this is a sign to get back to basics and make a new start (The Fool).

The High Priestess and the Magician (trump 1 and 2) suggest opposites to be integrated into a new World order (no. 21 the World = combining trump 1 + 2 numerically).

Personally I don’t believe in doom and gloom predictions.

Instead, I feel that major changes are coming our way on a more personal level, which could sometimes be uncomfortable but eventually will lead to a more sustainable development and evolution of humankind and our planet.

Number 12 features twice in the date - the Hanged Man - which could emphasise the necessity to make a sacrifice, or indeed the ability to progress will be put on hold for a while.

It is unlikely that anything noticeable is likely to happen globally on 21/12/2012; it’s more likely to be a phase of change that has already started and is said to reach its climax some time in 2013.

But wait a minute! Apparently, some destructive solar storms will hit our planet in 2013 according to NASA. Check out the article in the Daily Telegraph, but let's not panic at this stage 😂

In the meantime, feel free to comment and share your thoughts on this topic. Are you feeling a kind of shift or transformation in your life?

Christiane
