The Six Human Needs

the six human needs
I recently came across Tony Robbins' website, an American life coach and self-proclaimed "catalyst for change and strategist for success". Amongst plenty of useful information and resources, his post about the six human needs on his blog caught my attention.

My first thought was how illuminating it would be to turn it into a Tarot spread / reading, so before I do that, here's a summary of what the six human needs are all about.

Every day we strive to fulfil our basic needs:
  1. Certainty: assurance you can avoid pain and gain pleasure ( I would also include here the need for security, stability, a sense of permanence, structure, routine)
  2. Uncertainty/Variety: the need for the unknown, change, new stimuli
  3. Significance: feeling unique, important, special or needed (also: recognition, appraisal)
  4. Connection/Love: a strong feeling of closeness or union with someone or something (also: friendships, social interactions)
  5. Growth: an expansion of capacity, capability or understanding
  6. Contribution: a sense of service and focus on helping, giving to and supporting others
In order to support and fulfil these needs, we create a multitude of beliefs and take action according to the needs we tend to focus on the most.

So, here's the first question for you to answer:

Which of these six needs do you tend to focus on or value the most?

What motivates you? Which of the six core needs influences your decisions? What is making you tick?

I'm sure that deep down you already know the answer, but you can use the Tarot to explore this question further. For this purpose, I have chosen two of my personal tarot cards based on my date of birth to explore this question:

the hermit aquatic tarot
the moon aquatic tarotPersonality Card: The Hermit

Linked to Virgo, the Hermit suggests earthy needs, such as security, stability and certainty, but also the need to delve into the unknown seeking new stimuli and variety

Zodiac Card: The Moon

According to the Moon, linked to my sun sign Pisces, I am more inclined to focus on uncertainty and variety than anything else. Fluctuations, drifting, restlessness are key traits of the Moon and of my life so far.

Interestingly, both Virgo and Pisces are mutable signs. People born under or influenced by mutable signs tend to be adaptable, flexible, going with the flow, resourceful and versatile, but they can also be volatile, unpredictable and feeling insecure at times.

My focus on uncertainty/variety has come as a bit of a surprise to me. I always thought I tend to base most of my life choices on certainty and love/connection, but this isn't so. In fact, for some of my most important decisions I have relinquished certainty and love/connection for the sake of variety.

What are the ways (good and bad) you meet these needs? For example, in your relationships, work, eating, exercise, etc.?

Again, answer this question before you consult the Tarot and then compare notes.

Personally, I meet my needs by moving on after a while; I've moved countries, had numerous jobs in different disciplines (and I still do a variety of jobs today!), long-term relationships haven't worked for me so far, enjoy a variety of hobbies and interests, always want to learn something new, do something different, and even my taste buds have changed quite radically over the years.

eight of cups aquatic tarot
The pip cards relating to my zodiac card The Moon are the Eight, Nine and Ten of Cups. The Eight of Cups in particular highlights the way I meet my needs - letting go and moving on to seek new pleasures, which I enjoy for a while and then move on again. I suppose I get bored so easily... *sigh*

How can you increase your focus on growth and contribution? What are some things you can do, or new experiences you can participate in?

Many people tend to avoid focusing on growth, because it is often linked to loss, endings and pain. It can be easier to stick with what you know and what you're accustomed to, but it can leave you in a position of living your life on auto-pilot, compromising on integrity and not fulfilling your true potential. That's why so many people are stuck nowadays.

Although I have no problems participating in new experiences, I may actually need to turn them into growth, be more aware of lessons learned and apply them in order to stop drifting.

Using the Tarot for further guidance, you can either explore the pip cards of your zodiac card further, or you can draw a card from your deck.

queen of swords aquatic tarot
I have drawn the Queen of Swords as a random message and advice card.

The Queen of Swords is asking me to use my intellect rather than emotions when making decisions, value my independence more, use my perceptive skills to see more clearly rather than being too trusting, and getting straight to the point rather than trying to be diplomatic. I also need to get super clear on what I REALLY want, quite literally making a list of specifics rather than being vague.

The Queen of Swords is also asking me to contribute with knowledge, wisdom and fairness by using my teaching and organisational skills. I have already been doing this for many years not just in work but also in my personal and social life, but I know there is always more I can do, and more consciously, too.

Now over to you.

You can ask additional questions, such as

  • Which needs do you tend to neglect or avoid, and why?
  • What can you do to nurture those needs?

Exploring your core needs is particularly useful when important life choices have to be made, whilst experiencing major change and transition, and at times of stress and feeling overwhelmed.

Take your time when doing this work to gain more clarity on your true purpose, ambitions, goals and ultimately to know thyself.

Warmest wishes,

Christiane

How to Manifest New Love with the Law of Attraction

seven of cups aquatic tarot
Wishful thinking...
“To spend your time wanting things is to smother your time for achieving things beyond your expectations.”
- Criss Jami

It's easy for any sceptic to ridicule the Law of Attraction (LOA) and dismiss it as yet another New Age fad.

The Secret was such a big hype promising wealth and whatever you want, yet in my opinion it attracted lots of money mainly for its author Rhonda Byrne.

People have been drawn to that book, because it sounds so easy and, to be honest, too good to be true.

And when something is too good to be true, you know that it probably is.

Yet, some wisdom can be found in LOA, which is - as usual - based on common sense.

One of the theories behind LOA is that when you wish for something mindfully, your wish will be granted at one point. This is also called "cosmic ordering".

You set your intention, make it known to the universe and basically wait for it to happen.

That's the theory.

In real life, it doesn't work that way. You know that already, don't you?

You could wait for ages, keep thinking about it and grow more and more desperate when nothing happens.

But there is one tiny little trick you need to apply for your dreams to turn into reality (if at all!), which is highlighted in this allegory:

Imagine you enter a chicken coop, and you want to catch one of the chickens, but they all rush away from you.

The harder you try, the more difficult it becomes to catch any of them. All hell breaks loose in the chicken coop, and in the end you are exhausted.

it's what you do in your free time that will set you free or enslave you
But here is the alternative:

You enter the chicken coop with the intention to catch one of the chickens.

Rather than trying hard and chasing them, you just sit on a chair and do nothing except observing them.

After a short while, the hens become curious and come closer to you.

You gently start interacting with them, and soon one of them will be close enough for you to get hold of it.

Job done, no sweat, and your hairdo is still intact, too.

This story could have easily been told by any ancient prophet. Perhaps you find it in the Bible, I don't know, but it's not New Age, it's not over-hyped LOA - just simple, timeless wisdom.

This is how the law of attraction really works: you set your intention, and then let whatever you want come to you in its own time without getting stressed out over it.

When you try too hard, keep yearning for that new love to enter your life, it's unlikely to happen. And if it does, it's often not the kind of love you were hoping for. In this situation, people tend to accept second best to satisfy their neediness.

So...make your wish, but then let it go.

Forget about it. Don't think about it any further. Don't want it so badly. Don't be desperate. Don't try and force it to happen.

Make the conscious decision to be single for a while, nurture friendships instead of chasing after a relationship.

Turn your needy self into a free spirit. Raise your vibrations.

My experience is that when you are happy on your own, new love enters your life - unexpected, out of the blue.

But as soon as you are longing and yearning, forget it. It will only make you feel sad, frustrated and lonely. And those negative feelings create a negative vibe around you, which just makes it all worse.

“Desire is the kind of thing that eats you and leaves you starving.”
- Nayyirah Waheed

Let go.

Be happy on your own.

Imagine being on your own for the rest of your life and love that idea.

Don't fear it. Accept it as something joyful and beautiful.

Enjoy your single life and waste no thoughts on when your next lover will show up. They will show up eventually, trust me.

Just let go.

Yes, it's more hard work than those glossy LOA books make it sound - embracing the unknown and the unwanted as a blessing rather than a curse.

“The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind.”
- William James

Warmest wishes,

Christiane

Life is a roller coaster, is it not?

I am Your Fantasy - A Tarot Poem

queen of cups vampyre tarot, i am your fantasy

I am your fantasy,
your escape from reality.
You only know part of me,
my worst you will never see.

two of wands vampyre tarot

One night a week
you embark on a trip of shame
to experience ecstasy
in a haven away from tedious fidelity.

the lovers vampyre tarot

Those few precious moments you live in the present,
a long way from homely mundanity
feeling the thrill of slow surrender,
drowning in the sea of love infinity.

the sun vampyre tarot

Imagining a new life with the lover you hardly know,
except every inch of her body,
far away from judgement and false morality,
in a parallel universe, just you and me.

Discarding all you once loved happily
in exchange for sexual alchemy.
Hoping for the flame to burn forever,
determined to fall from grace causing calamity.

queen of swords vampyre tarot, i am your fantasy

But stop. I am reminding you now, right here
that I am just your muse and fantasy.
Your temporary escape from reality.
I will never let you see the worst of me.

four of cups vampyre tarot

For one day the tides will turn, change on its way,
nothing ever stays the same,
turning fantasy into reality and a new mundanity
will be the end of you and me.

The Other Woman

the other woman
Sharman-Caselli Tarot Deck
(c) St. Martin's Press 2002
For most people, having a relationship with a married person isn't a choice but an unfortunate accident.

They fall in love with someone, who hasn't been truthful about their legal status at first, but they are "too far gone" to pull out without facing the emotional pain of a breakup.

Or they knew right from the start, but embarked on the doomed affair thinking they'd met the love of their life rather than thinking straight.

Women especially can get entangled in such a relationship, hoping it will go somewhere.

And when all they get are a few hours a week of rushed love for months on end, they begin to wonder, if this will ever change.

At that point, I receive reading requests: "Will he leave his wife for me?" or "When will he leave his wife for me?"

Before you spend money on a reading, here is a helpful statistic for you:

95% of men, who have an affair, won't leave their wives.

Are you hoping to be one of the lucky 5%?

Sure, we often hear stories about men running off with the mistress only to return to their wives a few months later.

Why?

Because once the secret of the affair has been revealed, the thrill tends to fade and men become disillusioned with their once so exciting lover-on-the-side.

Perhaps he's been telling you that he wants to leave his wife, or he keeps talking about his marital problems and issues, which may lead you to think that you have a good chance.

I'd hate to break it to you, but no. No chance. Unless he has made concrete plans about leaving his marriage behind, he will only use you as an exciting distraction from his otherwise mundane life.

Especially when there are children involved, it will be even less likely he'll leave his family. And if he does, beware! He could easily do the same to you at one point in the future.

If you make the conscious choice about having a relationship with a married man, you need to let go of any illusion that he will leave his wife.

You need to accept that he can only spend a few hours a week with you, sometimes even less. He could dump you at any time, especially when he feels under pressure or he's getting bored of you.

If he is a decent man, who knows his responsibilities, his family will always come first, and you will come last.

There is unlikely to be happy-ever-after with this relationship. Be prepared for that.

Perhaps you are at a point, where you feel alone and desperate. Then now is a good time to reconnect with your friends and rebuild your own social life.

You may have been at your lover's beck and call, which over time will have put you in a position of isolation and powerlessness.

It's time to regain your power.

Now is the time to detach yourself from your lover and do your own thing. When he asks to see you for a few hours, say "no" and arrange to meet up with friends instead.

Start to learn to be more independent again.

Get your life back.

Tell your lover to go and fix his marriage. He shouldn't leave his marriage for you but for the fact that his marriage can no longer be fixed, but he's put all his effort into saving it. It can be tough getting accused of being a home wrecker.

Ok, would you still like to explore your options with an email reading? With a 3-card reading we can explore
  1. current energies surrounding your relationship
  2. what you can do to get this relationship moving (one way or the other)
  3. overall staying power of this relationship (outlook)
Depending on your individual circumstances, I can adjust this reading to give you best possible guidance.

Hey girlfriend, let's sort this mess out once and for all!

Warmest wishes,

Christiane

Why Anger Is Good For You According To The Tarot

why anger is good for you according to the tarot
It's okay to hit the roof, as long as
you don't set someone's house on fire 😃

Anger is often misunderstood and viewed negatively because it is typically associated with its extreme manifestations: rage, bullying, violence, and destruction.

In Astrology, anger is associated with Mars, and in the Tarot, Mars is linked to the Tower. The forces we see in this card are destructive, an outburst of energy.

We are all taught from an early age that anger is bad, and we need to suppress it.

True, we don't want this powerful energy to get out of hand, but learning instead how make use of it more constructively can be liberating and life-transforming in a positive way.

Anger is actually good for you, when it takes you from a position of powerlessness to empowerment.

When you say "enough is enough".

When you are stuck in sadness or depression, feeling angry about what caused your situation can pull you out of your black hole.

When it feels better to be mad than sad, you begin to stand up for yourself, speak up and fight back.

Anger initiates change.

When you have to cope with loss or bereavement, you will feel anger at one point during that process. It will help you move forward.

It is important to release anger, but not by killing people or destroying their property, but in a more creative and healing way.

The Martian energies, including anger, are also present in Minor Arcana cards linked to Mars. They can teach us a lot about anger, its causes and consequences as well as how we can turn it into a positive force.

two of wands tarot

Two of Wands - Mars in Aries

We don't see any anger in this card, but it may encourage you to use your anger as fuel towards a new beginning. Looking to the future, making plans, nurturing your aspirations and setting new goals.

Perhaps you have just lost your job, you are angry about how you have been treated. Use your anger to find a better job, work for the competition and become more successful.

nine of swords tarot

Nine of Swords - Mars in Gemini

See what anger does to you when you don't let it out? The urge to release anger is often suppressed by fear. Fear of punishment, of hurting others, of feeling guilty.

Fear causes suffering. There is a sense of feeling powerless in this image. The Nine of Swords is asking us to shift those limiting beliefs of reluctance and inhibitions through communication.

When your situation is desperate, and there is no improvement in sight ("I can't do this"), anger can help to overcome fear (shift towards empowerment) and can cause quite a revolution. The longer anger is suppressed, the worse the consequences will be when released.

seven of wands tarot

Seven of Wands - Mars in Leo

We see a lot of physical energy in this card - there is a sense of high adrenaline, stress, frantically defending or working on something. We can also see determination and persistence (perhaps even obsession), but how long can this man keep going?

Anger can be released by taking action, through physical exercise and practising self-care. Running, gym sessions, dancing....any exercise you feel passionate about.

Releasing anger through physical activity can lead to emotional and mental recovery.

five of cups tarot

Five of Cups - Mars in Scorpio

Sadness, disappointment, loss. You cannot get passed those debilitating emotions without a spark of anger.

Without crying, ranting, screaming or writing soppy poetry to express your anger about someone, who hurt you, you cannot move forward and cross that bridge in the distance towards a happier life.

Rather than directing your anger towards others (including the guilty party), express your uncensored thoughts and feelings in a journal or artwork, such as sculpting or painting.

three of pentacles tarot

Three of Pentacles - Mars in Capricorn

No hint of anger in this image, but the Martian energies may encourage teamwork and collaboration. Don't be angry on your own. Get together with like-minded souls, who are equally unhappy about a situation.

In a group, you can work on making changes for the better. Think of trade unions, animal rights and environmental organisations, where you can channel your anger about unacceptable conditions into a transformative force.

ten of cups tarot

Ten of Cups - Mars in Pisces

Such a happy image, and yet the Martian energies are simmering beneath the surface, ensuring that happiness won't last forever.

The message of the Ten of Cups regarding anger is to develop a healthy relationship to feeling and releasing it.

Only suppressed anger leads to long-term resentment and bitterness. In a relationship, it is important to express your anger without fear or guilt, rather than pretending everything is fine.

Releasing anger in a constructive way can actually improve a relationship, and yes, it could break it, too, but then perhaps that would also be for the best.

Forming a healthy relationship with anger, embracing it rather than demonising it, is a powerful life skill helping you to grow, heal and transform in a positive way.

How is the Tarot helping you to release, express and heal your anger?

Warmest wishes,

Christiane

Will He Come Back To Me?

hanged man housewives tarot
Don't hang about when he's gone,
you've got better things to do.
Housewives Tarot
(c) Paul Kepple & Jude Buffum
Okay, girlfriend, so he dumped you, and you're devastated. You're in a bit of a shock and wonder, if this has really happened.

Surely, he must still love you and soon will regret his silly action of just walking out on you.

Surely, he will change his mind and come creeping back begging for forgiveness.

Let me tell you this, girlfriend:

In your dreams!

You really must be cruel to be kind to yourself and answer this question with a cutting but ultimately liberating

NO

He's gone.

Gone forever, and he won't return. Ever.

No need to ask for a Tarot reading to answer this question.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life without him.

Accept that, girlfriend, and soon you'll realise it's for the best.

And please, don't beg him to stay or come back. That's so unattractive and won't do your self-worth any good. You'd be better off eating a tub of ice-cream.

Why on earth would you want someone back, who hurt you this much anyway?

Yes, of course, I know: you still love him (or perhaps just the idea of him?).

And it's so hard to let go of that love. So hard to face and embrace that pain of loss. It takes inner strength, perseverance, tears, some good friends and lots of self-care to do that.

Won't happen quickly, but believe me, girlfriend: you can do it!

That's what you need to focus on rather than wondering, if he'll come back to you. Otherwise, time will stand still for you. You will put your life on hold whilst waiting and hoping he'll be back one day.

Face it now: he's gone.

Detaching yourself emotionally is the best you can do right now to avoid weeks and months of misery.

But what, if the answer was YES?

Would that make you feel happy and you'd gladly wait for him to return? Would you really want him back as if nothing had happened? Think about this for a moment...

Yes, on rare occasions they do come back, but often for reasons other than unconditional love for you. He may come back because:
  • he is insecure
  • has low self-esteem
  • he needs you to make him feel good about himself
  • another relationship didn't work out
  • he'd rather be with anyone than being alone, and he knows you still want him
  • unresolved emotional issues
  • he just wants to be friends (often with benefits)
  • he doesn't really know what he wants (and may soon be off again)
And on the even rarer occasion, he will have realised he's made a terrible mistake and will want to return for good.

Yes, sometimes this happens.

Yes, sometimes there are happy reunions and not-so-happy reunions.

But will this warmed-up relationship be blessed with happy-ever-after or cursed with lingering tension and trust issues?

So, if he does turn up on your doorstep again, here are some really interesting questions you could ask the Tarot:

1. What is in it for me?
2. What will I gain?
3. What will I lose?
4. How will taking him back affect my life?
5. How will rejecting him affect my life?

And of course, don't forget to communicate directly and ask him straight, why the hell he's come back, and what are his lame excuses for leaving you in the first place, and what has changed his mind.

Evaluate his answers carefully. You can even use the Tarot to validate them and explore his true intentions.

And before you rush in determined to make the same mistake twice, give it time. Re-connect as friends only. See, if what he said and promised to win you over he is putting into action.

Once broken, trust is hard to rebuild. A walk-out always causes damage to a relationship even with the best intentions to repair it when reunited. It doesn't always work. You need to be aware of that.

To summarise, will he come back to you?

No.

Don't hang on to false hope putting your life on hold. Focus on getting over it and on with your life. So many new opportunities for you out there in good time.

But if he does want to come back, do get in touch, and we can explore your options together.

Warmest wishes,

Christiane

a message from the nine of wands

“Resilience is accepting your new reality, even if it's less good than the one you had before. You can fight it, you can do nothing but scream about what you've lost, or you can accept that and try to put together something that's good.”
Elizabeth Edwards

“My scars remind me that I did indeed survive my deepest wounds. That in itself is an accomplishment. And they bring to mind something else, too. They remind me that the damage life has inflicted on me has, in many places, left me stronger and more resilient. What hurt me in the past has actually made me better equipped to face the present.”

Never Be Mine

eight of cups
Tarot of Quotes
It’s been a while,
But sometimes I still wonder why
You left from one minute to the next,
When everything seemed fine.

Pursuing me for weeks,
Taking it slowly yet one step closer each time,
You made all the moves and finally won me over,
And I was so happy you were mine.

Or so I thought, silly me.
All your affections, were they just deceptions?
Perhaps you were just curious, enjoyed the chase,
A game to raise your confidence, and I lost the race.

You enjoyed the novelty at first,
Overwhelming me with kindness and attention,
Yet you lost interest whilst still pretending
Not saying a word, feeding your apprehension.

Then it was over, just like that, vague reasons and assumptions,
I didn’t have a chance for another glance.
A self-proclaimed "solitary social toe dipper"
You dipped your toe into my heart, ripping it apart.

Little did you know that once I let someone get close,
I fully commit to the relationship with love and devotion
Not just for six weeks, and not just to dip my toes,
But for the long haul, guided by trust, faith and my emotions.

I’m not cut out to be sampled and played with until I no longer suffice,
For someone to roll the dice, and I have to pay the price.
You ended it with tears and the guise of a caring heart, emotional felony,
You shouldn’t have done that to me.

And here I am, still thinking of you and grieving, but slowly moving on,
Rebuilding my trust and having faith that I won’t fall again for a con.
All the things you gave me put away, tainted memories kept out of sight.
Telling myself you were wrong all along, I choose to embrace new love, magic and light.

And in the meantime I have to accept the irrevocable end, the end of the line,
And the wheel keeps turning,
My heart burning,
Coming to terms with the fact you will never be mine.

Christiane

Why Did He Leave Me?

why did he leave me
Valentine, Schmalentine.... today isn't a good day, if you've been dumped recently, left a volatile relationship for the sake of preserving your sanity, or you're just sad and lonely, because you haven't found "The One" yet.

Fret not! You're not the only one, and tomorrow you can buy yourself a nice pack of Valentine chocolates at less than half price! Yay!

If you've recently been dumped, you might be asking why, especially when the relationship seemed to be going well.

Getting dumped out of the blue without any clear indication beforehand (you might have missed the warning signs in your romantic loved-up stupor though ;)) and little explanation, you might be looking for answers elsewhere.

Yes, the Tarot can offer you some closure, if the heartbreaker doesn't. Use the Majors only to get an idea, why you were abandoned by the one you love. Shuffle the cards and pick one:

The Fool: This person wanted to have a new adventure.

The Magician: This person was a player and enjoyed the chase.

The High Priestess: This person had secrets and didn't want to be found out.

The Empress: This person thought you were too good for him.

The Emperor: This person felt uncomfortable with your independence. They needed someone to control, and you weren't the right match.

The Hierophant: This person couldn't cope with your liberal and free-spirited lifestyle. Perhaps unlike you, they may also wanted marriage and children.

The Lovers: This person met someone else. It was a tough choice, but you lost out.

The Chariot: This person finds it hard to commit for various reasons. Could also be searching for the perfect love, and you, I'm afraid, are not the one.

Strength: This person left because of inner demons and hang-ups they're constantly fighting.

The Hermit: This person just wants to be alone.

The Wheel of Fortune: Wrong place, bad timing. Changing circumstances and insecurities. No stability.

Justice: This person found it hard to make personal adjustments in the relationship. Also, there may have been legal issues.

The Hanged Man: This person needs to go away and think things through, but is unlikely to come back. May also have thought that the relationship wasn't going anywhere.

Death: This person just doesn't love you any more. Dead as a Dodo.

Temperance: This person found it hard to compromise and balance their needs with yours.

The Devil: This person may have felt trapped or stifled in the relationship. It wasn't healthy for them.

The Tower: Hot temper, a short fuse - this person just left on a whim, perhaps with the intention to hurt you. Beware - may come back and apologise, and is likely to do it again in the future.

The Star: This person has outgrown the relationship on a spiritual level.

The Moon: This person is ruled by insecurities, irrational fears and perhaps even paranoia. They wanted to leave, before they get hurt.

The Sun: This person wasn't happy with you for purely selfish reasons.

Judgement: This person just focused on the negative in your relationship whilst not recognising what was going well. They want perfection, which they are unlikely to find. Ever.

The World: Being in a committed relationship just isn't for this person. They love to be free and single without restrictions.

The answers only give an indication and could also relate to you rather than the person who left you. Explore the interpretation of the card you have drawn and how it fits to your failed relationship.

For more detailed insight and clarification, you can also draw two Minor Arcana cards.

And then, put closure on what's happened, so you can move on to find a new and better love in the future.

Whatever the reason why they left you, good riddance to them. You won't be heartbroken forever!

Lots of love to you,

Christiane

Why "No one can make you happy except yourself" is a Lie

the sun tarot of quotes
Tarot of Quotes

In woo world everyone tells you that happiness comes from within.

To a certain extent that is true, but some spiritual gurus go further and proclaim "no one can make you happy except yourself"

That's a lie, regardless how much new age waffle they use to try to convince you.

Why else do we enter into relationships and friendships?

We have people in our lives that make us happy - lover/ partner, children, friends etc.

They love, inspire and support us.

They lift us up, when we feel down.

With them we enjoy companionship, have a sense of belonging and experience exciting adventures on our life journey together.

Those special people can make us immensely fulfilled and give our life meaning.

Why don't we admit that, rather than trying to enforce some pseudo-spiritual self-sufficiency that doesn't agree with human nature?

I admit that some people in my life make me happy. Without them, my life would be dull and empty, and not the biggest amount of self-love and I-don't-need-anyone-denial would make things better.

Don't get me wrong: I'm not endorsing vampiric co-dependency, and sometimes those, who make us happy set us challenges, too.

But our healthy relationships make us happy...deeply. Our lives would be bleaker without them.

People can make you happy. Let them. And you make them happy in return with the love you give. What's wrong with that?

Warmest wishes,

Christiane

My Word for the Year

word for the year 2014

Coming up with a word for the year to inspire and encourage you over the coming months ahead is a magickal way to help you achieve goals or simply guide you to where you want to be.

I first came across this idea when I started using Leonie Dawson's Year Planner, and this year I'm choosing a word for the first time.

My word is inspired by this year's energy card, the Chariot, which is linked to the element water.

Although it's spiritually meaningful to me, it's also kind of humorous, too.

It's PLUNGE.

There is a nice ring to it. You'll know what I mean when you say it out loud. Linger on the 'n'...plunnnnnge :)

It sounds whole-hearted; better than "plop", which only covers the surface, or "splash", which is just noisy. PLUNGE goes deep and all the way.

This year, I will plunge into the unknown.

I will plunge into faith.

I will plunge into love.

I will plunge into the ocean of change, and let its currents and tides take me where I'm meant to be.

I will plunge into that ocean with my eyes closed trusting my inner knowing that all will be well.

PLUNGE expresses my need to initiate movement, to embrace the unknown, overcome fears, to dare and to accept impermanence.

And then of course PLUNGE makes me laugh. Where would I be without a word that puts a smile on my face?

Perhaps this year I will also plunge into a shopping centre (haven't done that for years), plunge into a nightclub, plunge into a new hobby, plunge into studies, plunge into parties, plunge into a skirt or a dress (haven't worn those for years either).

I'll be taking the plunge for sure. I wonder how often I will use this word😄

What's your word for the year?

Warmest wishes,

Christiane
